Charlotte began riding horses at the age of six in Waterloo, just outside of Brussels, Belgium. Charlotte’s early training and love for horses is how she acquired her excellent hard work ethic…which has given her the ability to ride and train all types of horses.
She grew up spending all her spare time at the barns, rapidly developing the love of jumping and showing internationally at an early age.
Charlotte worked at multiple international equestrian facilities which allowed her to acquire her broad knowledge and understanding of horsemanship.
One turning point in her horse experience happened when she was hired as a working student by Nelson Pessoa, the champion who amassed an impressive resume at the highest levels of the sport in the 60’s, including Olympic and Pan-American medals.
Pessoa decided to take her under his wing when she was only 15 and taught her the passion, savvy and horse sense he gained over more than 40 years as well as the discipline, focus and sense of the detail that made him the champion that he was. To this day, Charlotte continues to leverage those valuable lessons and uses them everyday in her own equestrian training. Under Pessoa's coaching, she went on to compete in her first 140 cm ( Queen's Cup) at the International jumping of Mechelen, Belgium.
Witch was her dream.
After 2 years she moved to Germany where she worked for Lars Nieberg and acquired a lot of experience training young horses and was lucky to get to show one of his horses in some International Young Rider shows.
Charlotte also worked for Albert Voorn and Eric Van Der Vleuten in Holland.
She then decided to move to the U.S. in 2004 and became rider for Joan Irvine Smith’s San Juan Capistrano horse breeding program in Southern California where she was responsible for the training of a dozen farm bred horses.
After getting married and giving birth to two adorable children – Lucas and Chloe – Charlotte resumed her career of trainer in 2012 and provided coaching at multiple equestrian facilities in Southern California. She also resumed her horse riding carrier.
The family currently lives in San Clemente, CA.
Charlotte relocated her business at Blenheim Farms in San Juan Capistrano after spending 3 years in Georgia .
Charlotte trains and rides from lower level jumper to Grand Prix.
She also has an extensive horse trading network in Europe and the U.S. Since moving to the U.S., she has traded numerous horses from Europe with very high and consistent satisfaction of her customers. Charlotte personally rides and hand-picks the horses in Europe based on specific criteria and instructions from her customers. Her passion and deep knowledge of horsemanship allow her to advise and recommend the right horse for each particular rider.
